When is our district’s deadline?
The DOJ guidance currently gives April 26, 2027 for entities with a population of 50,000 or more and April 26, 2028 for smaller entities. School districts use the applicable resident population, not enrollment. Explore your estimated date and confirm with counsel.
Does a tagged PDF mean it is accessible?
Tags are a starting point. The reading order, headings, alternative text, tables, links, and forms still need to work. Automated checks should be followed by human review.
Do we have to fix every old PDF?
The rule has exceptions with specific conditions. Age alone does not settle the question. Documents used to apply for, access, or participate in public services need particular attention. Read the exceptions guide and consult counsel.
Can AI make our PDFs accessible?
Automation can help with tasks such as text recognition and initial structure. Human review is needed to check meaning, reading sequence, descriptions, tables, and actual use. A successful automated check is only one evidence state.
Do you replace our website platform?
DistrictProof can work alongside your existing website team or vendor. The scope may cover documents, website testing, or recurring content review. Any direct website changes depend on your platform, access, and agreed scope.
Do city and county school districts use SAIPE?
The DOJ guidance says city districts use city population and county districts use county population. Independent districts use the most recent SAIPE population estimate.
Is a school district a special district government?
The DOJ guidance states that a school district is not a special district government for this rule. Do not assume the special-district date applies.
Is the deadline based on student enrollment?
No. The relevant measure is resident population under the applicable district population basis.
Did the dates change in 2026?
Yes. The DOJ’s guidance reflects an April 2026 interim final rule extending the dates to 2027 and 2028. Check the primary guidance for current details.
Are other ADA duties on hold until the date?
The DOJ says existing ADA responsibilities still apply before the rule’s start dates. Ask your counsel about your specific obligations.
Does an old folder make a PDF archived?
No single folder label or age establishes every condition of the archived-content exception. Review the conditions with counsel.
Can an old form still need attention?
A document currently used to apply for, access, or participate in a service needs particular attention under the rule. Consult the primary text and counsel.
Does the free report decide exceptions?
No. It can flag information for district review. Legal and exception decisions remain with the district and its counsel.
Is OCR the same as document remediation?
No. OCR recognizes text in images. Recognition accuracy, structure, reading order, tables, and non-text content still need review.
Why ask for the source file?
Fixes in an editable source can support future versions. The exported PDF must still be reviewed.
Can a table be fixed just by adding tags?
The headers and relationships need to reflect the meaning of the data. A tagged structure can still be incorrect or incomplete.
Are web pages sometimes better than PDFs?
Yes, depending on the task. Frequently updated information may be easier to maintain and use as semantic HTML.
What is manual website testing?
A reviewer uses agreed methods such as keyboard and screen-reader tasks to examine barriers that tools alone may miss.
Does a scanner score cover the whole site?
No. A result depends on the pages, states, and checks included. Record the coverage and supplement it with manual review.
Can you work alongside our web vendor?
The engagement can be scoped around your existing team. Implementation responsibilities, access, and third-party follow-up should be agreed in writing.
How are board packet deadlines set?

What if the packet changes after review?
A replacement or re-export is a new version. It may need another check before the evidence record is updated.
Are fixed prices available?
Yes. Deadline Packages start at $14,500. Per-page remediation starts at $3.50/page, with a $750 minimum order. Care starts at $750/month, billed annually. Your final price is fixed in writing after a free 25-page sample review.
Can we buy only Docs?
Yes. Docs, Web, and Care can each be scoped independently.
